Brexit

Never before has a member state withdrawn from the European Union. But it became a fact at the end of 2020: the United Kingdom left the European Union. Since then, customs rules have applied to the movement of goods to and from the United Kingdom. Also, all goods are "under customs control", such as travellers' luggage, courier shipments and air and sea freight.

Businesses trading with the United Kingdom now have to deal with customs procedures and legal prohibitions. Additional procedures now apply to importing and exporting animals and animal and plant products. Permits and certificates are required for them. This also creates a lot more work for Customs.
